Portable DVD Player Car Mount
If you have recently purchased a portable DVD player for your car then it may or may not have come with it's own car mount. While many include this piece of equipment, some models leave it up to the buyer to choose a car mount system for their vehicle. The type of portable DVD player car mount that you get depends on the type of system you have. The mounts are not specific to any type of vehicle Some systems feature dual screens that are intended to be mounted on the back of the headrest. Other models resemble a laptop computer and are designed to either sit on the lap or mount between the two front seats.
If you have a dual monitor type of portable DVD player, your more than likely come with a DVD car mount in the box. If not, you want to look for a headrest mount system to attach your system to the back of the headrests. These slip over the headrest and secure the screens in place with a velcro strap or similar system.
If your portable car DVD player is one of the lap top models, you will want to look for a car mount that fits between the headrests of the two front seats. This only works in vehicles that have adjustable headrests. The mount then has a strap of velcro that slips over the DVD player to keep it in place. The benefit of these types of mounts is that they are inexpensive and easy to snap in and snap out. Using one of these will keep the player at eye level and make it easy to see for all passengers.
When shopping for a portable DVD player car mount, here are some things to keep in mind.
Screen Size
While most mounts will easily fit a range of different screen sizes, it is good to note in advance weather the mount you are looking at will be a good fit for your DVD player.
Detaches Easily?
You don't want to leave your DVD player visible when you run in to a rest stop or get a bite to eat because that can encourage theft. Make sure that your mount allows you to easily detach it or the player for keeping out of sight on breaks.
Swivels?
If the "keeper of the DVD's" is riding in the front, you need the controls to be facing you in order to use it. Some portable DVD players themselves feature a swivel screen and so do some mounts. Having one or the other will make managing the DVD's much easier.
Installing your portable DVD player car mount is a an easy process that should only take minutes and in most cases requires no special tools. Once you have it in your vehicle, your DVD player will be properly positioned and easy to see for all.
